Table of Contents
On September 3, 2024, the second Surface Precision Machining Expo (PME CHINA 2024) kicked off at the N4 Hall of the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, running for three days. The expo brought together numerous precise industry professionals and exhibitors, offering a high-end platform for showcasing and exchanging surface precision machining technologies.
High-End Manufacturing Drives Precision Surface Machining
With the rapid development of advanced production capabilities, the demands on component surface quality in high-end manufacturing have significantly increased. Techniques like precision grinding, deburring, polishing, industrial cleaning, and surface treatment have become critical methods for improving key indicators such as wear resistance, fatigue strength, corrosion resistance, and operational precision of components. Since its inception in 2019, the PME Surface Precision Machining Expo has centered on surface precision machining technologies and applications, continuously creating endless business opportunities for participants across the dimensions of knowledge, technology, and commerce.
Targeted Visitors Drive Exhibitor Participation
A dedicated “Abrasives Zone” was co-hosted by Abrasivestocks, the Coated Abrasives Sub-Association of the China Machine Tool & Tool Builders' Association, and the Guangdong Hardware and Abrasives Industry Association. The zone attracted many enthusiastic exhibitors, including Chengdu Qisheng Abrasives Co., Ltd., Yangjiang Weiyi Polishing Materials Co., Ltd., White Dove Abrasives Co., Ltd., and Tongcheng Xinbinyuan New Material Technology Co., Ltd. These exhibitors saw considerable interest from potential clients, with Yangjiang Weiyi’s booth receiving inquiries from both domestic and Russian customers. Their promotional materials were completely taken on the first day. In discussions with Yangjiang Weiyi representatives, Abrasivestocks staff learned that although visitor flow was concentrated, the precision of interest was high. Several existing partners visited to learn more about their products and showed keen interest. The company expressed satisfaction with the exhibition results and optimism for the upcoming peak season, often referred to as the “Golden September and Silver October.” Yangjiang Weiyi showcased new products such as precision grinding wheels used in mirror polishing for Apple devices and brushed finishes for casings, alongside non-woven abrasive products widely applied in the 3C industry.
"Aobo" Campaign and Continuation of an International Vision
During the expo, Abrasivestocks also launched a “Aobo” giveaway campaign featuring the ATGE mascot, a kangaroo named Aobo. This not only helped build rapport with visitors but also served as a prelude to the upcoming Australia Tool & Abrasive Expo (ATGE), scheduled for April 29 to May 1, 2025. As an international industry event, ATGE provides new opportunities for companies to enter the Australian market while building an important bridge for innovation and exchange within the industry. It will further enhance cooperation and development between international players. Both the PME Expo and the Linyi Hardware Fair highlighted the latest industry trends, demonstrating that no matter how markets evolve, innovation and precise positioning remain the core drivers for companies to succeed. Even in challenging times, opportunities arise for those brave enough to explore them.
